DESIGN INDABA'S MOST CREATIVE STAND
This award recognises and celebrates exceptional stand design on the Design Indaba Expo floor. Judged for its innovation, interactivity and overall sexiness, the Most Creative Stand demonstrates the pleasure of taking a (creative) stand.
EMERGING CREATIVES
Sponsored by the Department of Arts and Culture, Emerging Creatives is a platform that recognises and promotes South Africa’s most ingenious young designers. Bearing testament to the success of this platform is John Edwards, Ian Kelynack, Justin Southey, Caleb Pedersen and Tarien Malherbe who all launched their creative careers as a Design Indaba Emerging Creative.
FASHION
All-day fashion shows on the Design Indaba Expo floor presents the creations of local trendsetters and statement-makers.
FOOD MARKET
While the gorgeous designer products on the Design Indaba Expo floor will feed your creative senses, the food market will ensure that your tummy is kept happy too. Enjoy the freshest selection of quality, local foods and beverages. There’s sure to be something to tickle everybody’s taste buds.
KIDS WORKSHOPS
The DSTV Kids Workshops are dedicated to promoting and nurturing creativity in childhood education. In addition to learning and having fun, the workshops also encourage participation and parent-child interaction.
MOST BEAUTIFUL OBJECT IN SA
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and that’s why everybody has a say in what should be Design Indaba’s Most Beautiful Object in South Africa. Acknowledging that beauty can take any shape or size, the MBOISA applauds beauty that extends to social significance, sustainability and luxury, while remaining almost undefinable.
PECHA KUCHA
Catch designers and creatives talking about their work in a Pecha Kucha presentation on the Design Indaba Expo floor. Pecha Kucha presentations force speakers to be short and to the point by limiting them to 20 slides each shown for only 20 seconds.
SALON PRIVÉ
The Salon Privé at Design Indaba Expo is a separate exhibition area within the main exhibition focusing on premier South African design. Showing invite-only designers, Salon Privé is the ideal space in which to launch a new product or product range.
Design Indaba Expo takes place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).

Located along the city’s northern foreshore, the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) is the ideal space for Design Indaba Expo, with flexible facilities and a gorgeous view of Table Mountain.
Comfortably accommodating the almost 40 000 visitors that attend Design Indaba Expo over three days, the CTICC has some 1 400 secure, on-site parking bays for visitors. The complex is wheelchair friendly, has toilets for physically disabled persons and elevators with Braille inscriptions. Designated drop-off points also makes for easy access to the complex.

Custom Space
We provide floorspace only - A distribution board is compulsory for all custom stands at aproximately R950 ex VAT to be ordered directly from the CTICC. Stand drawings must be submitted and approved 3 weeks prior to build-up. 9m2 minimum stand size.

Standard Package Stands
Incudes walls, 2 spotlights, 1 plug point (shared distribution board), carpeting and a fascia name board. 3, 4, 6 or 9m2 squared stands available
- R2150 per m2
Jewellery Package
Includes walls, 2 spotlights, 1 plug point (shared distribution board), carpeting, a fascia name board and extra security. 2 m2 stands available.
- R2000 per m2
Jewellery Shop Front
These stands include 2 Acrylic panels that look onto the main Expo floor. 2 m2 stands available.
- R2550 per m2
NOTE: There is a 5% levy on all corner stands and a 10% levy on all island spaces. Comparatively, Expo’s rate is very competitive and the event offers its exhibitors more benefits than any other trade or décor show in terms of reputation, infrastructure and a supportive environment. The majority of Expo exhibitors not only recoup their costs through sales, they also make a profit at the event.
CO-EXHIBITOR FEE
We do not encourage exhibitors to share stands as this results in a cluttered display and does not promote the individual brands effectively. There is thus a co-exhibitor fee of R900. In other words, if you share a stand with another exhibitor we will charge you an additional R900 for the extra accreditation, registration and administration costs.
To ensure that Design Indaba Expo maintains a high professional standard, each exhibitor is pre-approved by a curatorial panel of industry experts. The curatorial panel comprises industry leaders and experts in their field of design. The creative work of each potential exhibitor is evaluated to ensure that it meets the exacting standards set by Design Indaba, ensuring that each design is 100% homegrown and of the highest quality.

If you’re a student in a creative faculty at a tertiary institution in South Africa or a young designer in the process of establishing a design service or business, apply now.
The Design Indaba Expo 2012 Emerging Creatives Programme invites designers to apply for a spot on the Expo floor, alongside some of the biggest names in South African design.
The selected Emerging Creatives will have full sponsorship to showcase their creative work at Design Indaba Expo 2012, as well as a ticket to attend the Young Designers Simulcast of the Design Indaba Conference.
Emerging Creatives, sponsored by the Department of Arts and Culture, is one of the many ways that Design Indaba is committed to nurturing and promoting the creative talent of young South Africans. It serves as a developmental platform for the next generation of designers, whose work is all selected based on its quality, originality and ability to stand alongside world-class designs.
Emerging Creatives exposes young designers to the best in the business, including international buyers and media. Bearing testament to the success of this platform are the likes of Daniel Ting Chong, Lauren Fowler, Andile Dyalvane, Laduma Ngxokolo and Lyall Sprong, who all launched their design careers as an Emerging Creative.

Online Buyer Registration is now closed. Please note that you can still register on site. Please visit the Buyers Registration Desk at the Cape Town International Convention Centre for more information.
Buyers are encouraged to register as official Design Indaba Expo buyers to ensure the full benefit of the experience. Official buyers receive access to a variety of facilities to make their visit more convenient and pleasurable. There is a registration fee of R200 for official buyers but should your company send more than one person a discounted rate of R60 is offered to the additional members. This fee allows us to offer the following benefits:
- Accreditation by name, company and country to allow better interaction with exhibitors and media.
- Access to the Expo for 4 full days.
- Exclusive Buyer’s preview of the Design Indaba Expo floor on Thursday 1 March, from 10:00 - 19:00.
