Sponsored series: What Design Can Do 2012

The second annual What Design Can Do conference in Amsterdam explored the positive and negative sides of a connected world and the role of the designer in this.

In May 2012 Design Indaba travelled to Amsterdam in the Netherlands for the second What Design Can Do conference. The theme of the two-day event was "Connect" with speakers from across the globe, representing different disciplines, talking about design that goes beyond aesthetic pleasure, but focussed instead on smart alternatives and solutions for some of the world's most pressing problems.

As an official media partner to the What Design Can Do, Design Indaba conducted a range of exclusive interviews, featuring global leaders in design – graphic designer Paula Scher, architect and interior designer Marcelo Rosenbaum, product designer Hella Jongerius, artist and interaction designer Andrew Shoben and Architecture for Humanity's Cameron Sinclair.
