Luyanda Mpahlwa

Architect Luyanda Mpahlwa is principal and director of MMA Architects in Cape Town.

Mpahlwa completed his National Architectural Diploma in 1986 while serving a five-year term in Robben Island Prison, before going on to complete a Masters in Architecture at the Technical University of Berlin in 1997.

Beyond architecture and design, Mpahlwa has, since 2005, been a member of the Local Organising Committee’s technical team of professionals appointed as consultants for the construction and refurbishment of the 2010 Soccer World Cup stadia. His experience also includes academic involvement with Wits University, the University of Cape Town and the University of the Free State.
