SpeakerFerran Adrià began his career as a dishwasher, served as a member of his military’s kitchen personnel and started as an apprentice at elBulli in 1983, when he was 22 years old. Eighteen months later he became the head chef and has since perfected his deconstructivist approach into a 30-course gastronomical experience.
elBulli was open from April to October and Adrià would spend the remaining six months of the year mastering recipes in his workshop. The restaurant closed on July 30, 2011, and reopens in 2014 as a creativity centre.
Adrià is also the author of several cookbooks, including the highly acclaimed The Family Meal.
