Alistair King

Alistair King is co-founder of the Cape Town-based advertising agency King James.

Alistair King began his career as a copywriter in 1989. Before starting King James, he got good practice as a creative director at JWT Cape Town and then at Ogilvy. Among hundreds of creative accolades, he won the Tommy Young Award in 1995, awarded by the International Marketing Association to the most promising individual under the age of 30 in the South African advertising industry. King now sits on the frontline of South African creativity in his role as chairman of the Creative Circle and was named in Adfocus 2006 as one of South Africa's top 15 most influential ad practitioners.

To keep him sane, King owns a record label on the side, producing albums for a number of top South African music acts. He also has ambitions to grow this company to encompass film and publishing. So skilled is he in advertising that he can mention his guesthouse in Greyton called the Lord Pickleby, with five lovely rooms and an awesome breakfast, cunningly disguised as his bio.
