The Jasper Morrison Shop is housed in an unused part of his new studio.

Housed in an unused part of his new studio, the Jasper Morrison Shop houses work by Morrison himself, as well as peers such as Sori Yanagi and Naoto Fukasawa. Says Morrison: “My feeling is that design that follows the current ‘entertainment’ model, which attaches more importance to media exposure than to the real-life performance of an object, has run its course. It’s time for designers to shape up and design things which have built-in long-term performance. The shop is an idealistic showroom for those things, rather than a commercial venture, though you may leave with less money than you arrived!”

Jasper Morrison

Jasper Morrison was born in London in 1959. He received a degree in design from the Kingston Polytechnic Design School in 1982 and his Masters from the Royal College of Art in 1985. He studied at Berlins HdK on a scholarship in 1984.

Naoto Fukasawa

Born in Yamanashi Prefecture in 1956, Naoto Fukasawa graduated from Tama Art University in 1980. After having acted as the head of the American company IDEO's Tokyo office, he established Naoto Fukasawa Design in 2003.
