Matali Crasset’s Self-made Seat for Italian furniture manufacturer Campeggi can be arranged in endless configurations to make one of the most customisable seating systems we have ever seen.
The Self-made Seat topples the monopoly that the standard sofa has long enjoyed in our living spaces. It consists of a series of identical modular blocks (in two sizes) with unobtrusive polypropylene handles that can be picked up and carried around like suitcases.
“The system can be changed around depending on the activity, number of people and time of day,” says Crasset – from a tower of poufs to a three-seater couch with or without armrests and backrests. The larger units can be used as seats or backrests and the smaller ones as arm or foot rests.
The Self-made Seat is being launched this week at Salone del Mobile 2015.
