Iris Cristal honours the legacy of timeless crystal in modern creations

Crystal chandeliers by Iris Cristal express an ancient tradition in exciting new ways.

Established more than 30 years ago, Iris Cristal is a Spanish design atelier known for its distinctive collections of crystal chandeliers. Each piece is designed in the Alicante-based head office with a blend of inspiration, craftsmanship, innovation and tradition. While the design happens in Spain, the brand now has a factory in the heart of the historical Bohemia region in the Czech Republic.

The Czech Republic has a long history of glass-making and is internationally renowned for decorative glassware. Bohemian crystal, specific because of its reduced lead oxide content, has become famous for its excellent cut and engraving. Translucent hand-cut crystals and opaque blown pieces are key to creating sumptuous and timeless atmospheres.

The manufacturing of this noble material tells the history of an eight-century-old art, which  adorns the walls of Milan's La Scala, Rome's Teatro dell’Opera and the Palace of Versailles in France.

Iris Cristal recently created a large-scale ornamental installation in Algeria’s busy Houari Boumediene International Airport. Covering over five-square-metres of ceiling space, the impressive piece plays with light to create an indoor sun.
