Craft debate: Inga Sempé

Product designer and Design Indaba 2006 speaker, Inga Sempé weighs in on Design Indaba's craft debate.

From the Series

“Almost all the industrial products I do also use some craft parts; especially in upholstered furniture, there is still a lot of craft, in the sense of handcraft. Many craft techniques have been imitated by industry; sometimes it is a success, and other times it is a poor version of the original. Much of the original craft techniques have disappeared in France, and can only be done in Asia now, where craft is smashed by industries. But really, I just don’t care about those boring debates: I  am interested  in objects, however they are produced.”

Sempé’s two differently moustached Endormis plates were designed for Domestic.
