Debuting against the jaw-dropping backdrop of Tate Britain’s East Wing, Paul Smith presented his autumn/winter 2013 women’s collection packed with modern sartorial staples, punctuated with pop and texture through colour and fabric combinations.
The renowned British fashion designer combined soft alpaca tweeds and lambskin with silk and layered organza, creating a playful mix of soft and hard fabrication. The natural autumn/winter palette is brightened with pops of colour including fuchsia, cobalt, rust, navy and silver.
The theme of contrast is carried out further through a softened silhouette on the shoulders, which clashes with more harsh straight lines on trousers and in collars and sleeves.
Here’s to a bright and bold autumn/winter 2013.
