That they are a multiple award-winning team is hardly surprising – the firm defines itself by the quality and relevance of its conceptual design, production and final resolution. They hold as key to their success and relevance the ability to interpret a client brief and provide accurate value-adding responses. Thus the design process begins with the unravelling of the "right questions" that reveal the "right answers". This dialogue with the client and the context, results in a final concept that is a collaboration between commissioner and architect.

Their completed projects range dramatically in size and function, from boutique-sized fast food kiosks to game lodges in the Kruger Park. Their appointment to design the New Constitutional Court Building of South Africa in Johannesburg (in collaboration with Urban Solutions) brought them attention and acclaim - having won first prize in a competition open to international entrants. They have earned a KwaZulu-Natal Institute of Architects Award of Merit more than once, as well as awards of both excellence and merit from the South African Institute of Architects. They have taken part in numerous exhibitions, both locally and abroad. Makin and Masojada are also regular contributors to various publications that keep track of events in the world of architecture.
