Constantin Boym

Constantin Boym was born in Moscow in 1955, where he graduated from Moscow Architectural Institute. He completed his Masters degree in design at Domus Academy in Milan from 1984-1985.

In 1986 he founded Boym Partners Inc in New York City. His studio's designs include tableware for Alessi and Authentics, watches for Swatch, lighting for Flos, showrooms and retail displays for Vitra and exhibition installations for many American museums, including Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum.

Objects designed by Boym Partners are included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. From 1998-2001, Boym Partners developed a three-year long catalogue project called Souvenirs for the End of the Century. Objects from the catalogue have been included in The American Century at the Whitney Museum of American Art (1999) and in the National Design Triennial at the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum (2000).

From 1989 to 2000 he was a professor and programme coordinator at Parsons School of Design in New York. He's also the author of the book New Russian Design and the subject of the book Curious Boym: Design Works. The book received the ID Magazine Design Award in 2003.
