Digital innovation and creative development takes centre stage at an exhibition showcasing South African and international 3D printed sculptural design.
Agents of the 3D Revolution at the FADA Gallery at the University of Johannesburg presents a dynamic exhibit of 3D printed sculptural designs, as well as the machinery used to create these designs. A series of seminars also form part of the Agents projects, whereby participants are exposed to 3D design and print experts from around the world.
The exhibition is coordinated by Michaella Janse van Vuuren and aims to educate, inform and inspired – not just in terms of the possibilities of 3D print design and technology, but also promoting cross-disciplinary collaboration in this field.
Agents of the 3D Revolution will allow visitors to see live demonstrations of 3D printing technology while all the digital information generated as part of the event will be available online. This, the organisers explain, “remove the Agents from its geographical and temporal constraints and creating an international event that can be accessed by anyone in the world at any time”.
The exhibition features the work of 3D artists and designers from around the world, including Joshua Harker, Nervous System and Keith Brown, as well as Janse van Vuuren herself. Agents of the 3D Revolution is on until 22 July 2013.
