Zapiro’s puppets find airtime online

Posted on November 13th 2009

The satirical ZA NEWS puppet show created by Zapiro and Thierry Cassuto has finally found a way to broadcast – by going online.

Some 10 years in development, the satirical ZA NEWS puppet show created by Zapiro and Thierry Cassuto has finally found a way to broadcast – by going online. Created as short episodes that run for roughly three minutes each, from Tuesday to Friday, a longer skit on Saturday will highlight the events from the week. “In South Africa more happens in a week than in a year in some other places. ZA NEWS is outrageous, infuriating and as funny as the news, only more so,” comments Zapiro whose lead characters include the likes of Julius Malema, Jacob Zuma, Helen Zille and Nelson Mandela in latex-puppet form. ZA NEWS is being sponsored by kulula.com and hosted by the Mail&Guardian Online. Watch it now: www.zanews.co.za.
