Top 10 stories of 2015

News of Africa's cleanest city, a modern mud hut and some strong photographic and illustrated series made it on to our list of top stories from 2015.

As always, our stories about creativity and innovation coming from the African continent have proved to be incredibly popular with our readers. Our top 10 stories of the year include a look at the modernization of vernacular architecture in Ghana, animated Swahili proverbs and the news that a young photographer from Langa, Cape Town was on his way to being the first South African to be accepted into the Magnum Photo Fellowship at the New York University.

As well as these stories, we’ve noticed that impactful photography series, like the gallery of images on child brides, as well as unusual (sometimes sexual) illustration, have been causing quite a stir on our social media.

Our story about a static bicycle, developed by an Indian billionaire business mogul, that can be used to generate electricity became the most commented-on story ever.
