The Ford Little Theatre, located on the corner of Castle Hill and Belmont Terrace, Central PE, was built in the 1850s and originally named the "Athenaeum".

The Ford Little Theatre was initially founded to promote cultural activities and, after various other uses, has again become a centre for cultural and social activities. The building is one of few examples of the classical style of architecture in the city and was declared a national monument in 1980. The Ford Little Theatre is now home to the Port Elizabeth Music and Drama Society, which occasionally stages small productions and modern musicals.
