Bees are very important for the well-being of our environment. It’s makes perfect sense then that bees should have a home naturally suited to their needs, like a Thrive Hive.
London-based designer Tom Back created the Thrive Hive, a simple design that serves as a natural home for the little black and yellow creatures.
The form of the Thrive Hive is such that bees no longer need to be cajoled into a space that doesn’t fit their natural form.
Back’s design used traditional hand-weaving techniques in a structural framework. The hollow trunk form, the weaving and the materials used ensure a well-insulated habitat, while also making it easy for communities and households to get involved in beekeeping.
