The winners of the Standard Bank Young Artist Award were announced in Johannesburg earlier this week.
The winners are:
Kelebogile (Pearl) Boikanyo for music.
Mikhael Subotzky for visual art.
Princess Zinzi Mhlongo for theatre.
Bailey Snyman for dance.
Afrika Mkhize for jazz.
Presented annually to young South African artists, the awards recognise artistic excellence in various disiciplines. The awards seek to support the artists to further extent their creative profiles by offering financial support and a platform for experimentation in the form of a stage at the annual National Arts Festival in Grahamstown.
