Prestigious award for Seed Cathedral

The UK Pavilion's Seed Cathedral has been recognised for its outstanding architecture in the international playing field.

The Royal Institute of British Architects’ prestigious RIBA Lubetkin Prize for the most outstanding work of international architecture by a RIBA member has gone to the Heatherwick Studio for the UK Pavilion at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai.

Called the “Seed Cathedral”, the UK Pavilion came out tops among Timberyard Social Housing by Dublin by O'Donnell and Tuomey, and the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Centre, Alaska, by David Chipperfield Architects. This is the first Lubetkin win for Heatherwick Studio and an indication of the trans-continental relevance of architecture.
