Playing with bubbles

The SodaStream Play, designed by Yves Béhar, pushes the boundaries of plastic design and can be customised by the consumer.

Yves Béhar and SodaSteam have designed a new and affordable soda-maker that appeals to more segments of the market.

Adopting the concept of “play it your way”, the new SodaStream Play will be available in six fresh, strong colours, allowing consumers to choose a soda-maker that complements their kitchen interior.

Béhar’s design re-examines the interface, shape and material of the SodaStream System, redefining the way it is used. The simple shape of Play expresses the efficiency of the system while making a strong statement in the kitchen.

Play is minimal by design, and ultra simple to use, while the six bright colours are interchangeable and create personalisation for the consumer, says Béhar.

The matte texture and contrasting colour of the column and extruding base add playfulness to the machine. The SodaStream carbonating bottle easily locks into translucent polycarbonate bottle-rest with a single-push motion.

SodaStream Play will be presented at designjunction during London Design Festival taking place between 19 and 22 September 2013.
