Already recognised as one of the top concert halls in Europe, the Frits Philips Concert Hall in Eindhoven has undergone a creative makeover, turning it into the “absolute music centre of the future”. The festive re-opening takes place on 9 October 2010.
Design duo Niels van Eijk and Miriam van der Lubbe joined forces with Philips Ambient Experience Design to recreate the concert hall in tune with the needs of its users. By integrating the right composition of light, image, design and specially developed technology, they ensured an experience rather than just another hi-tech building.
Both the interior and the exterior of the concert hall are designed to be a meeting place. Van Eijk and Van der Lubbe designed everything from the glass façade to the foyers, furniture and crockery.
In keeping with future trends, the concert hall boasts an interactive experience. Visitors can listen to their favourite music in “listening chairs” with integrated audio systems, also designed by Van Eijk and Van der Lubbe.
