Involving the participation of the owner in its making, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec have designed a range of curtains, which are easy and quick to hang.
The Bouroullec’s “Ready Made Curtain” involves the owner to partake in its making and assembling. With an easy to install framework comprising few components, little skill and tools are needed for its installation. A hanging cord, wall fixings, pegs and personal choice of Kvadrat fabric are the only elements necessary for this contemporary curtain in any home.
The ambition was to create a new system that allows anyone to install a quality curtain in record time. We wanted to escape a hi-tech situation, but we didn’t want to make something rustic or heavy either, says Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec.
Drawing inspiration from the method of hanging a poster, the brothers use a hanging cord instead of a traditional curtain pole. The method in which strings are strung to a guitar, allow users to adjust the tightness as well as the drape of the curtain in relation to any window.
The fabric is available in three colours and two textures.
“Ready Made Curtain” will make its debut at Imm Cologne in Germany from 14 to 20 January 2013.
