Y Tsai: Using design as a tool

Architect Y Tsai believes in using the minimum resources to achieve maximum design results.

Architect Y Tsai made his Design Indaba debut in 2008 when his Nested Bunk Beds won the coveted Most Beautiful Object in South Africa award. This modular sleeping solution remains a popular design but here at Design Indaba Conference 2012 Tsai also speaks about projects that involved converting shipping containers into classrooms and other facilities.

People are slowly receptive to the idea of using design as a tool, says Tsai.

Tsai also talks about the Urban Mosaic project, one of the winners in the Your Street Cape Town challenge. For Tsai deisgn is all about using the minimum resources to achieve maximum results.
