The Well-Tempered Clavier by Baroque composer Bach is a combination of two collections of solo keyboard music: The Well-Tempered Clavier and Twenty-four Preludes and Fugues.
In this short film 3D-animation artist and director Alan Warburton visualised classical music into a visual score arranged in a real-world setting. The design incorporated many thousands of separate CGI light fixtures that span around a room and a car park. Every one of the lights had to be tailored to the precise duration the note strikes.
Warburton draws inspiration from graphical notation, which is an alternative to traditional sheet music notation that involves abstract symbols and experimental visual codes.
