Porky Hefer

Porky Hefer is a designer, activist and agitator committed to promoting change. Hefer is a creative doer that believes in keeping things simple.

Porky Hefer focusses on conceptual precepts which manifest in three dimensional forms, in a variety of executions from public sculptures to product and furniture design. Fascinated by the reactions and energy a piece can generate in a space, he embraces Africa and the skills and processes that are readily available indigenously, rather than trying to emulate foreign processes.

Having spent some 16 years working in advertising, Hefer is one of South Africa’s most awarded creative people. BMW, American Express, Nike, Coca-Cola and Durex are just some of the big brands Hefer has worked on.

In 2007 Hefer established the creative collective Animal Farm, which showed what the power of creative collaborations can achieve.

Hefer currently works as Porky Hefer Design where he strives to produce work that elicits a smile and sticks in your head, just like his delightful Rogz Grinz ball that he unveiled at Design Indaba Conference 2012.
