Inside Out

South African creatives take to international shores. We engage them in dialogue about their working experiences abroad.

Recently the creative self-doubt that seemed to accompany our emergence
as a new democracy has begun to evaporate, replaced by a growing confidence and belief in the things we do and make. But it’s one thing to flex your creative muscle at home among your contemporaries; it’s quite another to take on the challenges and the competition of New York, Paris or Berlin. In a series of Skype and email chats, some of our finest creative exports discuss the highs and lows of taking their talents onto the world stage.

This series was originally commissioned for Where It's At, a 2012 Design Indaba publication created in collaboration with Richard Hart and disturbance design.
