Entwined products

A Japanese creative process known as “Tanka” has led Nendo and Luca Nichetto to collaborate for Milan Furniture Fair 2013.

Oki Sato of Nendo and Luca Nichetto have embarked on a unique collaboration that will see the co-design of seven products showcased at Milan Furniture Fair 2013.

The designers have formed a relationship based on the creative process known as “Tanka”, which draws on the design method where two designers work closely together to form an entwined creation. Although “Tanka” is usually attributed to a style of Japanese poetry where one person composes the first three lines of a poem and the second person composes the final two sentences, the designers saw it as the ideal opportunity to create products reflecting both signature styles found in their work.

Using “Tanka” as their starting point and design process, the duo have been hard at work co-designing and co-conceiving seven products for Milan Furniture Fair later this year.

Nichetto = Nendo will highlight the mutual respect and affinity between Nendo and Nichetto’s work. Creating pieces together instead of displaying existing pieces alongside each other is sure to give rise to authentic and one-of-a-kind products not to be missed.

Nichetto = Nendo will be on display at Milan Furniture Fair from 9 to 14 April 2013 at Forp Buonaparte, Milan.
