The 2013 Most Creative Stand award at Design Indaba Expo went to Thingking!

Part of the Project

Marc Nicolson and Lyall Sprong of Thingking took the honours for this year’s Most Creative Stand award at Design Indaba Expo, winning six square metres of exhibitor space at Design Indaba Expo 2014.

The exhibitor stands are a highlight for visitors every year, not only the products and designs that the exhibitors have so lovingly worked on to showcase, but the way they have laboured over their presentation too.

The Most Creative Stand award is Design Indaba's recognition of local beauty and creativity, and is a celebration of all that gone into the exhibition stands at Expo.

On their win, Thingking had this to say: "We set time limits for certain parts of the build and/or piecing together so that we didn't have time to think too much. We feel lucky and glad that people seemed to laugh and have fun within the space."

Expo manager Kelly Berman said: “Thingking was selected for how playfully it showcased the design studio's process-driven approach. Sprong and Nicolson had a number of their innovative designs on display, including their standing strip lights and metal plant holders."

They also created some new works especially for Expo, including their Thingking sign that operates by pulling a lever to a light made out of tinfoil and wood. “The crowds responded with so much curiosity, packing their stand to see how all their designs worked," Berman added.
