The Tale of How

An absolutely beautifully illustrated book celebrating the success of the award-winning Blackheart Gang's animation.

Absolutely beautiful, The Tale of How coffee table book celebrates the success of the Blackheart Gang’s animation, which won 17 international awards. A little dark and dreamlike, with crazy looking creatures and a not-quite-for-kids tale, the so-called documentary book is a fiction itself, including a biography of the author and the never-before-heard account of how the Blackheart Gang murdered the author to steal his story. The handiwork of gang members Ree Treweek, Jannes Hendrikz and Marcus Wormstorm, the illustrations burn to come alive on the page and, fortunately, with the accompanying DVD, they do. A magical and strange experience on the whole, the book is an odd glimpse into the dreams of the Blackheart Gang.

Jannes Hendrikz

Jannes Hendrikz is the compositor and creative director of the Blackheart Gang by night, and TVC director for Shy the Sun by day. Completely self-taught, Hendrikz began his career at Refinery before moving to BlackGinger.
