Map away

Posted on November 3rd 2011

MAPS is a wonderful collection of cartographical pieces created by Paula Scher over the past 20 years.

For almost 20 years now Paula Scher has been painting and drawing maps.

Her cartographical creations all reflect the world as she sees it, many of them subtly commenting on the world of information overload in which we find ourselves today.

In a new book, MAPS, Scher presents 39 highly detailed and very personal maps she created.

More than just a maps, Scher’s paintings brilliantly combine image and type in a way that makes one reconsider the surface area of the world.

Depicting cities, countries and continents, the clolourful paintings are interspersed with information ranging from place names to cultural commentary.
