Biotypography, invented by type designer and experimentalist Oded Ezer, is a term that refers to any typography that uses biological systems and living organisms as the foundation for its design. Typosperma is the second experimental project in Ezer’s “Biotypography” series. The idea is born out of the creation of new transgenic creatures – half human sperm, half letter. The results are these imaginary creatures designed out of cloned sperm where the typographic information has been implanted into their DNA. Whatever happened to good ol’ Helvetica?
