The new magazine Coco Joe has been conceived as a brand extension for Channel O by Peet Pienaar and design studio The President. Similar to The President’s work on MK Bruce Lee, the magazine is gender-segmented and packaged as a VIP lucky packet. The first issue includes posters of some of South Africa’s biggest music names including DJ Sbu, DJ Waxxy, Khanyi Mbau, Lira and Kelly Khumalo. This issue was edited by Nonkululeko Mlangeni, known for curating Do You Know Where Brenda Fassie Is? for the Cape ’09 Biennale.

Peet Pienaar

Peet Pienaar is a performance artist turned graphic designer and co-owner of design studio The President. He is the editor and publisher of the multi-award-winning Afro magazine - a pan-African magazine showcasing contemporary writing and culture from the continent.
