Constantin and Laurene Boym’s newest miniature celebrates Barack Obama in lieu of the time-honoured tradition of inauguration souvenirs.

Presidential inauguration souvenirs are a time-honoured tradition in American culture. As such, Constantin Boym and Laurene Boym’s newest miniature celebrates Barack Obama. Shrugging the cynicism of their renowned Buildings of Disaster, cast in weighty bonded nickel, the limited-edition 2009 Obama White House is handcast in an optimistically bright blue resin. “We have reason to celebrate!” exclaim the Boyms.

Constantin Boym

Constantin Boym was born in Moscow in 1955, where he graduated from Moscow Architectural Institute. He completed his Masters degree in design at Domus Academy in Milan from 1984-1985.
