Let your guard down

2014 Design Indaba Pecha Kucha presenter photographer Joy Mckinney shared a photographic series "The Guardian" that explored the boundaries of personal space.

"The Guardian" is a collection of seventy-four portraits of Mckinney touching consenting strangers' faces on the streets of New York. She wanted to explore crossing the threshold of personal space and capturing the moment of connection between two people.

She followed the photographic exploration up with a video project entitled "Touch Me," which documents Mckinney's attempts to touch unsuspecting strangers.
Even my lecturers warned me that this was a daring undertaking but I just had to push my own boundaries, she says.
