Gazelle’s music is a mix of funk, electro pop and disco with a good dose of African spirit. Although at first the music may come across as clichéd and corny, there’s something magical about the sound and the lyrics that just keeps listeners wanting more. In line with their exciting live performances, the packaging of Gazelle’s debut CD, Chic Afrique, is an experience. Inside a black gift box, there is the CD, a poster and lush photographic portraits of each band member. With tongue firmly in cheek, the visuals reference African dictators. The quality of production, from packaging to music recording, is indicative of lead singer Xander Ferreira’s own international renown as a professional photographer.
