The mathematics of success at Design Indaba Expo

Emerging Creatives = 1 place + 4 days + 806 buyers + 43 000 pairs of eyes on your work

Emerging Creatives at Design Indaba Expo
Emerging Creatives at Design Indaba Expo

You don’t have to be a maths genius to work out that being an Emerging Creative at Design Indaba Expo will multiply your success in the industry. It’s all about numbers: exhibit your creations together with over 500 other designers all under one roof and, over four days, your work will be seen by more than 800 buyers and upwards of 43 000 people. No other design platform or event offers that kind of scale.

Design Indaba’s Emerging Creatives programme picks the most talented young South African designers, artists, photographers and innovators just entering their profession to exhibit at the Expo (see selection criteria here). The exposure to the media, public and trade can boost your career virtually overnight.

Sharing space on the Expo floor with established designers spanning the creative sectors presents networking opportunities par excellence. You’ll make connections, trade ideas, lend support and set yourself higher standards as a result.

You’ll get your own booth, profiles on our website, practical training and even business cards (see a full list of what you get here). You’ll get a priceless opportunity to sell your designs to the thousands of people coming through the doors, and a whole day just dedicated to meeting professional buyers looking for the ‘Next Big Thing’. Just last year, an Emerging Creative sold every piece on her stand to a buyer from San Francisco and was scouted to take part in a design fair in London.

But it won’t come easy. Nothing valuable ever does. You’ll have to work hard, and you’ll have to give us the best you’ve got. We’re looking for the best of the best – applications now open for 2015*
