You don’t have to be a professional artist, illustrator or designer to take part in the mass doodle session at Design Indaba Expo 2015; all that’s needed is a little of your time, and a lot of your creativity! Any doodle will do.
Through 1000 Drawings’ simple formula of putting pen to paper in your own special way, you can help make a difference to local communities. 1000 Drawings is an empowerment project that culminates in a one-night-only, massive inner-city art sale to raise funds for a deserving cause.
How can you get involved?
Come along to Design Indaba Expo on Friday 27 February, and join in our mass doodle session at 14:30.
Or if you can’t make the doodle session, make your way to the Doodle Booth, grab a piece of paper, pluck out a pen and get your doodle on!
This project is for everyone. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t picked up a pen since you were a kid or if you are a designer – or even if you are William Kentridge! Everyone can take part - Shani Judes, 1000 Drawings Cape Town
All doodles collected at Design Indaba will be auctioned for just R100 at a one-night only, massive inner-city art sale – Night of 1000 Drawings – in 2016. Buyers could get their hands on a one-of-a-kind work by tomorrow’s rising stars! All funds raised from the auction go towards a worthy cause.
Proceeds from the 2014 Night of 1000 Drawings held in Cape Town were used to change the lives of learners at the Thomas Wildschutt Primary School in Retreat, Cape Town. 1000 Drawings teamed up with non-profits Greenpop, See Saw Do and H.E.L.P. Educare to upgrade the school grounds, offer a life-skills programme and implement a homework enrichment project.
And it all started with a doodle.
