Design Indaba FilmFest 2014: Unexpected venues for unexpected films

Design Indaba FilmFest screens ten design film premieres in two unexpected venues to ensure you have a memorable movie-going experience.

Design Indaba FilmFest not only brings you the latest collection of films dedicated to the many cultures of creativity, but also gives viewers an unforgettable movie-going experience. This year, you will be able to enjoy ten films, never before seen on South African soil – in a unique al fresco setting!

Genres such as urban planning, the art of sign painting, skateboard culture, photography, filmmaking, social change, fine art and performance art take centre stage at the 2014 Design Indaba FilmFest.

The festival takes place over ten nights at two different venues that capture both the heritage and picturesque beauty of Cape Town.

The first venue is hosting three films, screened old-school drive-in style at Maiden’s Cove in Clifton. There’s no better way to enjoy cinematic brilliance in Cape Town than with the ocean on one side and mountains on the other.

The second venue – Cape Town’s oldest surviving building, The Castle of Good Hope – is hosting seven films. This al fresco style viewing experience allows you to soak up some inspiration and enjoy a picnic, all with Table Mountain as the backdrop to this majestic heritage site.

Dates to remember:

  • 21 to 23 February 2014 at Maiden’s Cove, Clifton (sports field positioned below Bungalow)
  • 24 to 2 March 2014 at The Castle of Good Hope (corner of Darling and Buitenkant Streets, Cape Town)

Don’t miss these one-night-only South African premieres.
