With three weeks to go to the event, the 2010 Design Indaba Conference is sold out – the sixth year in a row that the event has been fully subscribed. Running from 24 to 26 February at the Cape Town Convention Centre, Design Indaba has opened booking to the simulcast.

Speakers announced so far include architect Alejandro Aravena; product designers the Bouroullec Brothers and Tord Boontje; journalist Bruce Nussbaum; Anomaly CEO Carl Johnson; fashion designer Han Feng; graphic designers Michael Bierut, Harry Pearce and Stefan G Bucher; interior designer Marcelo Rosenbaum; interaction designers Troika; and South African puppeteers ZA News and Handspring Puppet Company.

With more big names still waiting in the wings for dramatic effect, all is not lost for those without tickets in hand. Due to the ongoing demand for access to Design Indaba’s all-star cast of creative superstars, tickets to the Young Designers Simulcast are now open to the public. Book at Computicket.

The Young Designers Simulcast traditionally allows students and designers under the age of 25 to watch a live broadcast of the conference in an adjacent auditorium for a discounted price. For professionals and designers over the age of 25, access to the simulcast can be bought for R1360 or R1560, including a subscription to the Design Indaba magazine.

Subscriptions to the magazine now come bundled with free membership to designindaba.com. Newly launched, designindaba.com is a portal featuring the latest news and innovations from leading international and local designers. Membership offers access to the growing archive of past speaker videos, full magazine content, invites to special workshops and seminars throughout the year, and immediate access to the latest features as the site continues to grow.
