Book now for the simulcast at DI2011

Don’t let the grass grow under your feet, book for Young Designers Simulcast 2011, now also in Jozi.

They say youth is wasted on the young but they’re probably just envious of the discounted rate at which designers and professionals under the age of 25 can attend a live simulcast of the Design Indaba Conference.

Understanding that design education and supporting the creative industries is the foundation of a better future, Design Indaba’s Young Designers Simulcast (YDS) gives students and young professionals the opportunity to attend a live broadcast of the main Design Indaba Conference in a second auditorium, at a discounted rate. And in 2011, for the first time ever, Johannesburg-based young designers can also experience the magic of the Design Indaba Conference right in their city.

Bookings for the Young Designers Simulcast of the 2011 Design Indaba Conference, taking place from 23 to 25 February 2011, are now open. An auditorium at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, as well as at the University of Johannesburg’s Faculty of Arts and Design (FADA), will be used. YDS will be showing live at FADA's Art Centre Theatre on the Kingsway Campus of the university.

For only R1240, including VAT, anybody under the age of 25 can listen to an all-star selection of top designers, business people and thought leaders in Cape Town or Johannesburg. Or, for R1440, the ticket can include a subscription to the award-winning Design Indaba magazine.

As always, a host of the world’s top designers, entrepreneurs and thought-leaders will descend on Cape Town to infect audiences with inspiration, motivation and evidence of the benefits of an active creative economy. The speakers that have already been announced include Google Creative Lab creative director Robert Wong, urban mobility revolutionary Jens Martin Skibsted, maverick typographer Oded Ezer, multimedia maestro Karin Fong and product designer extraordinaire Maarten Baas. We’re also excited to welcome architect Francis Kéré, education reformer Kiran Bir Sethi, data visualisation expert Ben Fry, product innovator Dror Benshetrit and graphic design studio Bibliotheque.

Excitement has been building up about Charlie Todd’s appearance at Design Indaba Conference. As the founder of Improv Everywhere, Todd has facilitated countless fun and crazy stunts to make people stop and have a laugh. Be part of Todd's stunt in Cape Town. Simply sign-up to the Design Indaba newsletter's Charlie Todd list to be kept informed.
