Solar-powered sinks, hands-free taps and various washing stations are colonizing the continent in a bid to beat COVID-19. Our fave is the foot-powered invention by boy genius Stephen Wamukota.
The hands-free washing station was created after Wamukota saw many people in his community struggle to wash their hands. Wamukota won the inaugural Presidential Order of Service Uzalendo Award where he became the youngest recipient.
"The first time the president announced Covid-19 infection in our country, it was said that everyone should wash their hands regularly to prevent the virus. My son told me that time that he had come up with a structure to help make hand washing easier,” said Wamukota’s father, James Wamukota in an interview with CNN.
