A design proposal by Tsai Design Studio and Jakupa Architects and Urban Designers looks at how to modernise Anglo America’s Johannesburg campus.
The proposal was awarded the third-place prize in Anglo American’s “Reinvention” architectural competition.
Reestablishing the link between Anglo American and Johannesburg’s urban landscape is the premise of the proposal. By conceptually drawing on the historical relationship between the Gold Rush and the establishment of Jo’burg and the way that mining culture shaped the urbanscape over time.
