Green screen

Green Movies at the Encounters Documentary Festival raises concerns over your most pressing ecological and social issues.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so how much more effective can a film be in drawing attention to some of the world’s most pressing environmental concerns.

This is why the Encounters Documentary Festival have collaborated with Greenhouse to screen some award-winning local and international documentaries that focus on ecological concerns.

Green Movies: Rewind, Review, Remake forms part of the Encounters Festival, which takes place in Cape Town from 12 to 29 August and from 18 to 29 August in Jo’burg.

The documentaries highlight the issues but also solutions by various stakeholders from individuals to community-based NGOs to global corporations.

And don’t fear, it’s not all doom-and-gloom. Many of the films carry a very positive message. There’s the underlying belief that all individuals can be empowered to bring about much-needed change.
