A golden way to draw attention to an overlooked piece of female anatomy

Alli Sebastian Wolf hopes that her work will spur more conversations about the fascinating magic and underappreciated aspects of the clitoris.

Sydney-based artist Alli Sebastian Wolf designed The Glitoris – an anatomically correct, giant sculpture. Gold, sparkly and one hundred times the size of an average clitoris – people will have no trouble locating it.

The artist explains, "It’s ridiculous how ill informed we all are about this incredible organ. I was in my mid-20s before I found out what the clitoris looked like, and it’s only through researching this project I’m learning the intricacies of all the parts and how they function”.

This political sculpture, which was designed with the intent of educating, even has the 8 000 clit nerves painted on with sequins. Treated as a mystery for so long, the clitoris is the only known organ that serves no purpose other than pure pleasure.

Alli hopes that her work will spur more conversations about the fascinating magic and underappreciated aspects of the clitoris.

“No matter what your gender or desire, I hope this helps people connect with their own and each other's pleasure better. The Glitoris is just a small part of a revolutionary shift in awareness,” she says.
