In its third year now, the Night of 1000 Drawings one-night-only art exhibition of A5-drawings-selling-for-R100-each has expanded to be hosted in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Amsterdam and Dubai. With each host city adding its unique arty flavour, Cape Town’s Word of Art collective set themselves the task of making Night of 1000 Drawings surpass all expectations. Innovative doodle sessions have included the monthly Sketch Away Thursday, as well as pop-up doodle studios at Earthdance, Rocking the Daisies and Table Mountain. Funds will go towards Word of Art’s urban rejuvenation programme, the Paballo ya Batho inner-city Jo’burg feeding project and Princess Alice Adoption Home in Jo’burg.
