In her takeover of our Instagram account last week, Faith47 showed us why she has a global reputation for producing some of the most compelling and poetic street art of our time.
The Cape Town artist’s spectral images speak for the dispossessed, humanising the urban landscape with their strange mythological beauty. Her #DITakeover showed apparitions of animals and giant figures that look like they might turn their backs on you and disappear.
Faith showcased the walls she’s adorned in urban environments from Warwick Triangle in Durban to an apartment block in Vienna. Murals in Miami, Toronto, Gaeta and Khayelitsha got the signature Faith47 treatment: monumental in size, grey scale, shimmering gold in colour and spiritual in nature. They left you with no choice but to double tap.
Faith47 is documenting the buildup to Aqua Reaglia - Chapter Two, her installation that will open in New York later this year, on her @aquaregalia Instagram account.
