The Edge Glass Gallery in Cape Town presents the African Light exhibition, opening on Sunday 30 May 2010.
Including the work of local and international glass artists, the exhibition explores the inherent reflective qualities of art glass as it mirrors a palette of African colours, shades and textures. The different pieces all contribute to a collection that embody the spirit of the African World Cup.
South African-born glass artist Bruce Marks will also be adding a unique piece to the exhibition. Now based in London, Marks is recognised as one of the world’s master glass blowers. The journey of Marks’s piece will be documented from its inception to its place in Africa, using images and an artist’s diary. This works as a means to track the artist’s process while also telling the story of a creative homecoming for one of South Africa’s finest export artists.
