Woolworths, one of the official sponsors of Design Indaba, used their activation at this year’s event to highlight their ten years of sponsorship. With this, a range of merchandise was given to delegates, which revealed a range of numbers. Examples were 365 days of creativity, 10 years of sponsorship and six messages about Fairtrade coffee.
Woolworths and Design Indaba really share a passion for creativity and innovation, and we are really proud to be sponsors for ten years, says Charmaine Huet, divisional director of marketing for Woolworths.
Woolworths is dedicated to making a difference through design, through their Making the Difference Through Design initiative, and has been challenging design students to make positive changes in their communities for many years. Each year students are asked to design something that would uplift their community. These designs are then showcased at the Expo and scholars are taken on a tour around the Expo floor.
The Totemism: Memphis Meets Africa exhibition curated by trend forecaster Li Edelkoort was proudly sponsored by Woolworths, The exhibition highlighted the best in South African design and comprised techno, handmade, printed and recycled designs.
“Being involved with Design Indaba helps us give back to an industry we really care about,” concluded Huet.
