The creative genius behind the famous (and infamous) Zapiro cartoons, Jonathan Shapiro, was awarded the 2012 International Publishers Association Freedom to Publish Prize at an event in Cape Town recently. Design Indaba asked him about this work, his inspiration and the role of cartoons in a young democracy like South Africa.
