Braam Jordaan shares the origins of The Rubbish Monster, a vivid and effective animation that has fetched him a string of awards, both locally and abroad. The success of this animation, which encourages recycling, and illustrates how the trash we carelessly discard all adds up, lead to Cambridge University Press publishing a children’s book adaptation by the same name. “Colour is my music,” says Jordaan, who was born deaf to deaf parents.
